Our Story

The Brainchild of The Hunter twins – Andy and John, the Lord Nelson was opened to pay homage to one of  the Britsih Navy’s Greatest leaders, Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bronté KB.

The themed bar/bistro was designed to emulate HMS Victory, with sails & rigging as well as pictures and memorabilia taking locals and tourist alike back in time 200 years to the age of the battle of Trafalgar. Set in the historic Grand Casemates Barracks, the restaurant was one of the first to open in the redeveloped limestone barracks in 2001. It has traditionally been since then THE place to go for live music or to watch sports or even just for a drink or a meal.
